a river's secrets

Amy immediately powered the family mac back up after shutting the river down. When she had connected, she e-mailed Greg:

Hi Greg,

I found the site. Still don't know how Anna managed to get there, but it's her password that's the key. All you have to do is log in to Berkeley's system with her password and do a PROM restart on that next to last URL in her log, the one right before the 404 error.

There are some instructions on rewiring taped under the motherboard in Anna's computer. Please go get them and put them up on a site somewhere so others who know what they are looking for can find it.

You might want to do some more checking through the system, see precisely why this is going on. But hurry. I don't think there's much time left on the net for any of us.

I can't tell you any more about how to do this. What I can tell you is that it's the connections that matter. The key is the configurations.

When Amy checked her mail the next day, there were no new messages. She thought about writing to someone else, that Greg had finally been frightened off.

There was no one left to write.
