People support what they understand--and understand what they are involved in.

People will commit to solving a problem only when nearly all participants agree the problem is worth solving , and isn't going to go away in a "reasonable amount of time."

No one will accept absolutely everything that you do. Buildconsent and communicate to determine if commitment levels are high enough to solve the problem.

However, people will support your efforts if you fall in line with their agendas or if you can convince them that you are doing something worthwhile.

Communicate with your supporters frequently to:

  • Keep track of any changes

  • Make sure that they understand what you are doing and why

  • Help them explain to others why you think the process and solution are worth investing in

  • Find out if they can help with data, analysis, or ideas

Reality checks help catch misunderstandings and build credibility . Forge partnerships with your supporters.

Supporters know others who have similar goals and might also contribute time and resources.
